      Release Notes for 2016 Season 4 Patch 2 [2016.09.16.01]

      CHANGE LOG:

      Simulator
      - Power saving and screen savers are now turned off when the Sim launches.

      Connection
      - Fixed a bug that would cause your Options/Graphics/Max cars selection to be sent only to the first server to which you connect while remaining in the simulation.
If you registered for a Race session far enough ahead of time, and joined the pre-race Open Practice, the Open Practice server would have been told of your selection.
But when you clicked on the [Race!] button inside the simulation to transition to the Race session, the Race server would not be told of your selection, and would instead use the default, maximum value.

      Rendering
      - Windshield reflections have been disabled at night tracks.
      - Fixed an issue where sometimes partially invisible cars would be present with large fields at Le Mans.
      - All floating point exceptions (reporting in .logs and/or crashing out) in the FG and BG have been disabled if the SIM is running on Wine (Mac/Linux).

      Options
      - Fixed a misspelling in the help text for the Far Terrain setting on the Options screen.

      Animation
      - Fixed an issue where the lollipop guy would sometimes appear in a T-pose.

      Audi Quattro GTO
      - Season setups have been updated.
      - Minor bug fix to selection of number of clutch plates for the rear diff. The change increment was two plates, but the range of plates was 1 plate to 8 plates, resulting in strange selection increments depending on where you started. The range has been changed to be from 2 plates to 8 plates.
      - Fixed a car number position issue with the official Audi 90 GTO paint scheme pattern.
      - Fixed the misspelling of FELUERLOSCH-ANLAGE on the dashboard.

      Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1
      - Season setups have been updated.
      - Tire warmers are now used for this car. Temperature is set to what we would see with blankets or an oven, as used on GT3 cars.

      members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3510448.page

Have fun out on the track!

      CHANGE LOG:

      Website

      - Added some more pre-race information for drivers in the Drivers' Meeting pre-race page.

      - The Sporting Code URL has been updated.

      - Fixed an error on the What's Hot page that mistakenly showed Time Trial Sessions.

      - Fixed navigation of the Quick Start Guide to allow smooth navigation transitions when viewing it after the initial required time.

      Simulation

      - Several settings for an upcoming feature named “Browser Mode” have been added to the "app.ini" file. These additional settings will be fully described when Browser Mode is released, and have no effect at this time.

      Loading

      - Track loading has been restructured to reduce the peak memory usage of the Simulator.

      Race Control

      - Fixed a bug where cutting a course to take the checkered flag would not properly award the black flag penalty due to scoring being finalized on the car before the cut course penalty was processed.

      Dynamic Track

      - The marbles texture has been updated to provide more accurate information on marble density.

      - Fixed an issue that could allow the server to create track dust when processing client updates.

      World State Triple Buffering

      - This upgrade fundamentally alters some aspects of how the Sim's "realtime"/"BG" thread (the one that keeps the world moving) and the Sim's "drawing"/"FG" thread (the one that paints the frames) interact with each other. Virtually every UI widget, including the "3D world" widget, uses data from the realtime world to determine what should be drawn. How this data is safely copied for the FG to draw a frame so that it doesn't get confused should the realtime world "wake up" and start advancing the world is now different.

      - Previously, the FG would lock-out the BG, make its copy, enable the BG, and then draw its frame. The main problem with this method is that if the BG is in the middle of updating the world when the FG is ready to start a new frame, that "lock-out" must wait until the BG finishes updating the world. Only then can the FG make its copy. But that means the FG gets stalled, preventing it from drawing frames until that world update finishes. The lower-end your machine, or the more complex the world update (mostly the more cars in the session), the longer it takes the BG to finish its world update, and the more likely the FG will get stalled, and the lengthier the stall is likely to be, leading to choppiness in the frame rate.

      - With the new method, the "copied" state information the FG uses to draw is instead generated by the BG itself when it finishes updating the world. And to keep the BG from overwriting the state the FG is currently using to draw a frame, that copied state information is triple-buffered (in fact, some things use triple-, some use quad-, and some use quintuple-buffering, depending on their needs). The mechanism that the FG and BG use to not step on each other's toes is now "lockless" - meaning that neither thread "locks-out" the other thread in the normal course of business.

      DirectX 9

      - Our support for the DirectX 9 version of the Simulation has essentially ended. New features, such as the graphical enhancements that are part of dirt track racing, will only be implemented in the DirectX 11 version of the Sim. We will stop shipping a DX9 version of the Sim soon. If you are having issues running the DX11 version of the Sim, please work with our support team at support@iracing.com to resolve them.

      DirectX 11

      - Improved Alt+Enter so that it now attempts to transition back to the original full-screen monitor and original full-screen mode instead of transitioning to a screen mode on the monitor where the window is located when Alt+Enter is used.

      - Fixed several bugs with Low Res. particles for multi-views.

      - Fixed an issue where high detail mirrors at night tracks could cause the car reflections in the mirror to render without car paint and with missing polygons.

      Weather

      - A heat haze effect has been added to the environment. This effect aims to create the appearance of “heat shimmer”, a visible distortion in the air. This effect is tied into the ambient and track temperatures. This effect can be toggled on or off in Graphics options.

      Driver

      - Visor tear-offs have been added to all drivers of vehicles that do not have a windshield.
      - - The default manual control for performing a visor tear-off is Alt+T.
      - - Automatic visor tear-offs can be toggled on or off in the Options menu, and will occur when the helmet visor becomes excessively dirty.

      - A first-pass of the hand-over-hand steering animation has been added to some vehicles. The list of vehicles includes:
      - - Global Mazda MX-5 Cup
      - - Legends Ford '34 Coupe
      - - McLaren MP4-30
      - - NASCAR Camping World Chevrolet Silverado
      - - NASCAR Camping World Toyota Tundra
      - - NASCAR Sprint Cup Chevrolet SS
      - - NASCAR Sprint Cup Ford Fusion
      - - NASCAR Sprint Cup Toyota Camry
      - - Street Stock

      Spotter

      - Two new options have been added to the "[SPCC]" section of the "app.ini" file that let you control how the default spotter behaves when you also have a live spotter spotting for you:
      - - reduceVerbosityIfLive=1 ; Reduce the spotter's chattiness if you also have a live spotter spotting for you.
      - - muteSpotterIfLive=1 ; Mute your spotter if you also have a live spotter spotting for you.

      Pit

      - Pit team support members that are behind the wall are now animated for the player’s car (or focus car). These characters can be seen providing support and managing the team from behind the pit wall.
      - - The "Pit Object Detail" setting in the Graphics Options menu works as follows for animated support characters:
      - - - High = Fully animated pit crew characters (currently only pit support crew members)
      - - - Medium = Static pit crew characters
      - - - Low = No pit crew characters are displayed, only pit box objects
      - - - Off = Nothing at all

      - Many cars have stacks of tires which appear near their pit stall, placed among their other pit apparatus. These stacks were generalized and shared amongst all cars. Now, each car should have an accurate stack of tires which is appropriate to that car.

      Pace Car

      - The pace car has transformed from a Ford Mustang FR500S into a Ruf RT 12R.

      - The official iRacing skin has returned to the pace car.

      Replay

      - All voice chat that you send or receive is now saved to the replay. To review it, activate the new "Replay Chat Review" control in the replay controls area on the Session screen. While active, you may continue to use the transmitter on your radio to talk, but the scanner part of your radio becomes disconnected from the radio's speaker. Instead, the radio's speaker is connected to the replay, and the voice chat that you hear, along with the notification of who is speaking and on what channel, comes from the replay. However, the scanner is still active, and any received messages continue to be saved to the replay.
      - - The Radio black box (F10) will also indicate that your scanner has been disconnected from the speaker by flashing the SCANNER title, and graying-out all the radio channel names. Though when watching a saved replay, or watching the replay after the server disconnects you at the end of the session, the F10 black box is not changed in this way.
      - - Voice chat review mode is automatically set to "ON" when you load a saved replay, and it is automatically set to "OFF" when you join a session. It is automatically set to "OFF" when you get into your car or when you begin "Spotting for team".
      - - The Options/Replay settings page in the Sim can be used to adjust which radio channels have their communications saved into the replay. By default, voice chat on all radio channels is saved to the replay. You can select to exclude communications on any custom channels you add to your radio. You can also select to exclude custom channels plus the @TEAM channel. Or you can select to disable saving any voice chat to the replay. Changing this selection takes effect without restarting the simulation, but will not erase any voice chat already saved in the replay, or cause prior messages that were not recorded earlier to be added to the replay.
      - - - Remember, these settings only affect what gets saved to your own replay. They do not impact whether what you say gets saved to replays by anyone else in the session.

      Video Capture

      - The video capture API has been updated to work around an NVidia driver issue.
      - - This should fix the issue where videos are coming out black using the most recent NVidia drivers.

      Telemetry

      - New telemetry variables, "PlayerTrackSurfaceMaterial" and "CarIdxTrackSurfaceMaterial" are now available that indicate what type of surface is under the car (concrete, sand, grass, etc.). Surface materials are defined in new "irsdk_TrkSurf enum." This is measured relative to the center of the car, just as with the "PlayerTrackSurface enum" that indicates how the surface is scored (race, pit, offtrack, etc.).

      - New telemetry variables, "TireLF_RumblePitch", "TireLR_RumblePitch", "TireRF_RumblePitch", and "TireRR_RumblePitch" are now available. These represent the pitch in Hz produced by the tire going over a rumble strip, or 0 if the tire is currently not on a rumble strip.

      - A new telemetry variable, "PushToPass" has been added which reports the state of the Push to Pass button.

      - A new telemetry variable, "dcMGUKDeployModeToggle" has been added that indicates if the in-car MGU-K deploy mode is set to fixed(0) or adaptive(1).

      - New 360 Hz telemetry output has been implemented!
      - - 360 Hz telemetry logging is disabled by default. The option for enabling 360 Hz telemetry logging has been added to the "app.ini" file here:
      - - - [misc] irsdkLog360Hz=0 ; 0 = 360 Hz logging is disabled, 1 = 360 Hz logging is enabled.
      - - The XXshockDefl, XXshockVel and SteeringWheelTorque variables will now log out at 360 Hz, if enabled.
      - - 3 new (memory mapped file) variables have also been added that always log at the rate of 360 Hz, but not to disk. This is for use by motion platforms and base shaker plugins:
      - - - XXshockDefl_ST = Shock Position
      - - - XXshockVel_ST = Shock Velocity
      - - - SteeringWheelTorque_ST = Steering Wheel Torque
      - - This data is output as a 6 element array, with a new flag variable header indicating that ist should be treated as a subdivision of time. You will need a new version of the ATLAS plugin to properly view the data, however the old plugin, and any older telemetry tool, should continue to read the data just fine.

      - A new McLaren ATLAS importer version 1.05 is available for download from the member site. This adds some new unit conversion parameters and adds support for properly viewing 360 Hz telemetry.

      EasyAntiCheat

      - This build uses an updated version of EasyAntiCheat that should reduce the likelihood of encountering EAC alerts that are caused by internet infrastructure issues.

      Peripherals

      - Support has been added for controlling backlights of all Razer devices, Logitech mice, and single color keyboards. Code has been added to indicate the current flag.

      - Added several new options the [External Displays] section of the "app.ini" file:
      - - enableLEDFlags=1, Set to 0 to turn off LED backlight flags animations.
      - - enableLEDShiftLights=1, Set to 0 to turn off LED backlight shift indicator animations.
      - - enableLEDHotKeys=1, Set to 0 to turn off LED backlight hotkey indicators.
      - - colorLEDHotKeysByType=1, Set to 0 to set all hotkeys to the same color.

      - Fixed a bug with keyboard LED shift indicators on Logitech keyboards.

      CARS

      Aston Martin DBR9 GT1

      - Weight has been increased by 70 kg to bring it closer to the minimum weight under which we understand it competed circa 2008.

      - Minor adjustments have been made to the aero to bring overall performance back in line with the Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1.

      - Downforce sensitivities of the rear wing have been modified to ensure the car does not reward minimum rear wing settings at all circuits.

      - Fuel economy has been slightly increased.

      - The external engine sound transitions between close and distant sounds for this vehicle have been improved.

      - Fixed a bug that caused headlight flashing of opponent cars to be invisible.

      - Season setups have been updated.

      Audi R8 LMS GT3

      - Fuel consumption has been slightly increased for GT3 BoP.

      BMW Z4 GT3

      - Slightly increased aero drag for GT3 BoP.

      - Fuel consumption has been slightly reduced for GT3 BoP.

      - Realigned the external mirrors with the appropriate bezel.

      - Fixed an issue where a driver could not see all of the digits on the blue backlit display.

      Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1

      - Downforce sensitivities of the rear wing has been modified to ensure the car does not reward minimum rear wing settings at all circuits.

      - Inner headlights are now enabled during the daytime.

      - Season setups have been updated.

      Chevrolet Corvette C7 Daytona Prototype

      - The external engine sound transitions between close and distant sounds for this vehicle have been improved.

      - The driver's seatbelt has been fixed so it no longer protrudes out the bottom of the vehicle.

      Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

      - Season setups have been updated.

      Dallara DW12

      - Increased tire wear for oval tracks to increase degradation and prevent running tires for multiple stints. Also, Indy tires are now used at Motegi to improve quality of racing.

      - A pitboard has been added for this vehicle. The custom paint template has been updated to reflect this.

      - Season setups have been updated.

      Ford Falcon FG V8

      - Construction and compound changes have been made to the vehicle tires. These changes should produce more realistic grip levels, improve drive-ability around the limit, increase degradation, and improve out lap grip in cold ambient conditions.

      - Power steering has been increased to help balance this vehicle with similar cars in the Sim.

      Ford GT GT3

      - Season setups have been updated.

      Ford Mustang FR500S

      - Driver viewpoint has been adjusted to better suit VR.

      Lotus 79

      - This vehicle now uses PBR shaders.

      - Fixed a corruption issue with the rear rim textures.

      McLaren MP4-30

      - We've implemented an alternative MGU-K deployment strategy. The internal combustion engine reaches full output at less than full throttle, and the MGU-K supplements smoothly between full engine output and full throttle at the pedal. The goal is to have smoother power delivery, and the hope is that the cost to efficiency of deployment is minimal. The throttle pedal position at which the engine reaches full output and the MGU-K begins to deploy is configurable by the user, and varies from 67.5% to 90% in 2.5% increments. Note that the old deployment smoothing strategy has been disabled.

      Mercedes-AMG GT3

      - Fixed a minor bug with the definition of the drivetrain components that was causing the portion of the drivetrain between the engine and clutch to have too much rotational inertia. This would cause the drivetrain to spin up the engine under very specific conditions.

    • Hi,

die RL möchte ich wieder posten und auf etwas wichtiges hinweisen
      CHANGE LOG:

      Website

      - Fixed an issue with the Driver Search functionality.

      Simulation
      - Removed obsolete .dll files that could cause errors at Simulation launch.

      - Temporarily worked around an issue that people were having where the Simulation failed to launch, caused by the inability to install versions of some Microsoft support libraries that the Simulation uses. These customers were running old, unpatched versions of Windows (for example, Windows 7 without Service Pack 1).
Microsoft does not support, and will not install these libraries on those out-of-date versions of Windows.
While we were able to work around this problem for now, iRacing does not support such setups.
We recommend keeping your Windows installation reasonably up to date.
      - - Starting with 2018 Season 1, iRacing will no longer support the Simulation on versions of Windows that Microsoft no longer supports via continuing updates. This means that the iRacing Simulation will be supported by Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
      - - - For details on these versions, please checkout these articles:
      - - - - Windows 7 - Wikipedia
      - - - - - “Installing Service Pack 1 is required for users to receive updates and support after April 9, 2013.”
      - - - - Windows 8 - Wikipedia
      - - - - - “Support ended on January 12, 2016; must install Windows 8.1 in order to continue receiving updates and support.”

      Dirt
      - Fixed an issue where a tire would immediately dump most of its stuck-on dirt if it came off the ground.
      - Fixed an issue where too much dust would be thrown on dirt ovals when cornering on black slick.

      Rendering
      - Softened the edges of dynamic shadow maps to reduce self-shadowing artifacts near the silhouette edge.

      Audio
      - Fixed an issue with gear shift sounds for all vehicles.

      Pit Crew
      - Right-side Lollipop Guy can now hold his lollipop again.

      New iRacing.com UI
      - A new Replays section is now available for use in the UI!
      - Your Driver's License Class, Safety Rating, and iRating in the top left of the UI will now automatically update after completing a session.
      - Dialog pop-ups should no longer get stuck behind other modal windows.
      - Users may now re-center the New iRacing.com Preview UI at any time using the same key the user has bound to this function in the iRacing Simulator.
      - Users may make the Sim default to use an Oculus Rift or Open VR device in the New iRacing.com Preview UI by setting, "AutoSelect=1" under the [Oculus Rift] or [OpenVR] sections in the "rendererDX11.ini" file.

      Time Attack
      - All Time Attack competition results using GT3 cars have been re-set due to the BoP changes introduced with this update.

Full 2018 Season 1 Release details are below.
Happy Holidays from all of us at iRacing, and have fun out on the track!

      CHANGE LOG:
      License Classes
      - iRacing now has four unique License Classes!
      - - Each of the four licenses are completely separate from each other, and you will have your own Class, iRating, and Safety Rating in each.
      - - There is one license for each type of racing available: Oval, Road, Dirt Oval, and Dirt Road.
      - - - Your initial Dirt Oval License Class was granted to you based on an algorithm that took into account both your 2017 Oval License Class, and your 2017 participation in Official Dirt Oval races.

      Heat Racing
      - Heat Racing, a new format of racing competition has been added to iRacing!
      - - Heat racing is a system of competition that divides racers into different groups, or Heats, based on their qualification performance.
Each Heat has its own winners and losers, and the best racers from each Heat will go on to compete against each other in the final session, the Main Event.
Before that, the other racers from each Heat will go on to Consolation Races, where they may have a chance to earn themselves a spot in the Main Event!
      - - For detailed information on Heat Racing, check out this document: d3bxz2vegbjddt.cloudfront.net/…acing-heat-racing-doc.pdf

      - You are able to create and join your own Hosted Sessions using the Heat Racing format!
      - - This option is only available in the iRacing Beta Interface!
      - - - To setup your own Heat Race:
      - - - - Click on: "Go Racing", then, "Create a Race", then, in the "Set Race Options" section, for the "Event Type", select "Heat Racing".
Then, select one of the different configurations in the dropdown and finally purchase your session and join!

      - - Session time and price are calculated using the maximum possible value for the number of entrants, which would yield the maximum number of Heat sessions being run.
Thus, the time is an estimated total of the time limits for each of the predicted sessions plus a small buffer to account for session transitions and gridding times.
      - - The cost for purchasing a Hosted Heat Racing Session has a 25% discount in addition to any other bulk discounts you may already recieve.

      Race Results
      - The in-Sim Race Results page has been reorganized to handle Heat Racing events, which can have many more sessions than just Practice/Qualify/Warmup/Race.
If necessary, you can now scroll the Results left/right to reveal the results for the particular session of interest.
Since all cars in the event are listed, yet only a subset of them actually drive in some of the sessions, you can sort the results for a particular session, thus grouping the cars that participated together, and pushing the cars that were not involved in that session to the bottom.

      Asphalt Oval Racing
      - A physics overhaul has been performed on our asphalt oval cars!
      - - For some extensive and detailed information, check out this link:
      - - - members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3582329.page#10803442

      Dirt Oval Racing
      - The default value for the starting track state for Dirt Ovals in a Race session has been lowered slightly for most cars, and has been lowered significantly for the Non-Winged Sprint Cars.
This change will affect Official Sessions and any hosted sessions where the starting state is not explicitly specified.

      - The default value for the starting track state for Dirt Ovals in Test, Practice, and Unattached Qualify sessions has been increased to make these tracks more closely match typical starting race conditions.
Overall, you should expect the track for a Dirt Oval Practice session to have nearly the same starting usage as a Race session for the entry-level Dirt Oval cars.

      - The variability in default starting track states for Dirt Ovals has been increased, meaning that when a starting usage value is not explicitly given, the distribution of generated usage percentages is wider.
This will result in more variety in starting track state in Official Sessions and any hosted sessions where the starting state is not explicitly specified.

      - Dirt Oval Track surface properties have been adjusted to reduce traction.

      - For some extensive and detailed information on the changes within Dirt Oval Racing, check out this link:

      Red Bull Global Rallycross Series

      - Welcome to the world of Rallycross!
      - - Rallycross is a form of racing that combines asphalt and dirt track sections into a short circuit, that also includes a dirt jump.
There are limited penalties, no pit stops, and cars designed specifically for this racing format.
      - - Rallycross cars and tracks have been added to the iRacing repertoire!
      - - - Ford Fiesta RS WRC
      - - - VW Beetle GRC
      - - - Daytona circa 2007 (Rallycross - Long)
      - - - Daytona circa 2007 (Rallycross - Short)
      - - - Iowa Speedway (Rallycross)
      - - - Lucas Oil Raceway (Rallycross)
      - - - Phoenix International Raceway - 2008 (Rallycross)

      - On the "Host A Race" page on the membersite, when a track with a Joker Lap (currently only Rallycross tracks) is selected, a new option for selecting the "Number of joker laps" is displayed.
Additionally, Full Course Cautions and fast Tows are both completely disabled, and Standing Starts is mandatory.

      Simulation
      - Headlights can no longer be disabled on Road courses at night.

      - The in-car slowdown penalty display now rounds up to the nearest tenth, so that "0.0" is never displayed for time remaining.

      Dynamic Track
      - Improved the method for calculating simulated tire activity during track initialization.

      Rendering
      - A new water shader has been implemented at Daytona circa 2007.

      - - Please look forward to this water shader seeping into other tracks later this season!

      - Changed the default "StartDriving.txt" and "StopDriving.txt" radio scripts to mute/unmute @ALLTEAMS if "qual_or_race" is true.
      - - This change is ONLY applied if you do not have customized versions of these two radio scripts.
If you have customized versions of these scripts, and wish to incorporate these changes, see the "readme.txt" file located in your My Documents/iRacing/scripts/radio/ directory for more information on how to use them.
(You would basically add "if qual_or_race mute @allteams" to the "StartDriving.txt" file, and "if qual_or_race unmute @allteams" to the "StopDriving.txt" file.)

These cars appear very small but pack a huge power-to-weight ratio and typically run four-cylinder engines.
The cars feature a handful of safety features including their own roll cages due to the dangerous nature of their power.
The small vehicles weigh in around only 900 pounds but carry engines capable of 300 to 400 horsepower.

      - Fixed a bug where an entire lap could be cut by looping around the finish line checkpoint so that a racer could hit the same checkpoint twice in a row (this could be done at Daytona's Rallycross configurations). This would compute a time-gained of 0 seconds instead of the entire laptime, resulting in only getting penalized by the base 15 seconds amount instead of roughly 70 seconds.

      - The track reference line processing code used by opponent cars has been updated to remove some quick jitters or slow-downs at seemingly erratic locations along some tracks.

      Rendering
      - Fixed an issue where tire smoke could sometimes appear green at night.

      Pit Stop
      - Fixed an issue where the pit crew would continuously try to restart a pit stop if the tire pressures were set to a different value (blue) but were not checked-off, potentially locking a car in pit lane indefinitely.
      - Fixed an issue where an entire pit stop was being canceled when only the first fuel can was being canceled.
      - Fixed an issue where optional repairs could continue to be performed even after a pit stop was completed.
      - The animated pit crew's "pit stop finished" sound will no longer trigger for pit stops that do not feature the animated pit crew.

      Controls
      - Fixed an issue where the Rallycross cars could not get into Reverse Gear if the Auto-Shift Driver Aid was enabled.

      CHANGE LOG:

      iRacing BETA Interface
      - Some extensive background system updates have been completed for the iRacing BETA Interface to greatly enhance the speed, responsiveness, and stability of the application.
      - Fixed Setups are now available when creating Hosted Sessions!
      - - When making the vehicle selection, you can activate the "Fixed Setup" switch near the top-right corner of the vehicle.
      - - - This allows you to select or upload the Setups to be used for the Hosted Session.
      - Spectator Sessions are now available for Official Races!
      - - Activate the "Show Running Sessions" switch near the top-right in the "Official Races" section of the interface. Then, click on one of the running races, and click the "Watch", "Spot", or "Crew", buttons to start that activity for that session.
      - - Individual spotter settings and spotter passwords remain in development, and will be coming soon.
      - An additional "Download" button has been added at the top of the Updater menu screen, so you can start downloads even faster!
      - Additional indicators for when the iRacing BETA Interface is loading and/or processing information have been added.
      - The Time Attack Launch screen now features an "Overall" view.
      - The Time Attack Results screen now always shows your current position at the top, if you have one.
      - - Click directly on it to jump to your row in the Results table!
      - The Time Attack Results screen now features "Go to Beginning" and "Go to End" paging buttons.
      - Improved support for scaling the iRacing BETA Interface.
      - Improved support for the use of 4K (UHD) monitors.
      - - If we detect you are using a 4K (UHD) display, you will get a prompt asking if you want to enable 4K Mode.
      - - - If you ignore the prompt, or if you click "Don't show me this again," you can enable 4K Mode by opening the Settings Menu and clicking "Enable 4K Mode."
      - The system for painting the Primary Sponsor has been improved.
      - Fixed an issue where using the Test Drive function for a Race Series during Week 1 would not work correctly.
      - Fixed the usage of plurals (-s, or -es).
      - Fixed some text bugs.

      Hosted Sessions
      - Car Classes can now be selected when creating a hosted race.
      - - Sessions are still limited to a total of 6 unique cars per session, and car classes can contain from 1 to 6 cars. The car class selections are grouped by the number of cars in the class.
      - - - Car classes are represented as tabs in the interface, so only the cars for the selected car class are displayed.
      - - This feature is currently only available on the Classic Membersite, not on the iRacing BETA Interface yet.

      Custom Car Classes
      - You are now able to create and edit your own Custom Car Classes for Hosted Sessions!
      - - When selecting the "Use Car Classes" Option when creating a Hosted Session, a new link called "Create New Car Class..." is now displayed above the Car Class tabs. This link brings up a dialog where you can enter a name for the Custom Car Class and select a group of cars for that Custom Car Class. For "Rel. Speed" (Relative Speed), there is a suggested value displayed, which is the average of all the selected cars, but any number between 0 and 200 can be used.
      - - - Rel. Speed values for Car Classes are hidden unless the "Grid Together" option is selected.
      - - The Car Class dropdowns will now display iRacing's Car Classes as well as any Custom Car Classes you have created. Custom Car Classes will include an asterisk (*) in the name. You can edit your Custom Car Classes by using the "Edit..." link, which is displayed when one of your Custom Car Classes is selected. This will bring up the same dialog used when creating a Custom Car Class.
      - - By using Custom Car Classes, anything about a Car Class can be changed, although it is not recommended to stray too far from the original purpose of the Car Class.
      - - Race Results from past races using a Custom Car Class will use the current name of the Custom Car Class that was used, not the name at the time of the event.
      - - This feature is currently only available on the Classic Membersite, not on the iRacing BETA Interface yet.

      Race Sessions
      - An indicator denoting that a final Race event is Official (Ranked) or Unofficial (Unranked) has been restored to the Session screen and its Info page.

      Dynamic Track
      - Some updates have been made to the debris throwing system.
      - - The physics for debris now utilize a new collision system. This should eliminate the ability for thrown particles to slip through walls, making their build-up more accurate.

      Dirt
      - Dirt heights across all areas of the track now allow for a greater possible range of dirt amounts.
      - - This will allow for both a greater build-up of dirt on the track, and allow for deeper digging-down of the dirt surface.
      - Dirt cushion modeling has been greatly improved.
      - - This is a pretty big change to how dirt ovals behave as the tracks are worn in. With this update, the cornering force from the cushion and increased banking that naturally develops should be noticeably greater, and the outside should be faster as a result.
      - The mean starting usage state for Dirt Oval Heat Races has been increased, and the variance of this value has also been increased slightly.

      Rallycross
      - The starting area for Rallycross tracks is now well defined for Race Control.
      - - The F3 Black Box now correctly sorts the cars on the starting grid.
      - The F3 Black Box is now aware of the starting area and the Joker Lap area when computing the time delta, and displaying information.
      - - Cars on the race path are always displayed as normal.
      - - Cars on the starting area are always dimmed, like cars in pit lane.
      - - Cars on the optional path(s) always have a cyan background color across their row.
      - The gained time rule can now deal with the Joker Lap, and should correctly maintain and track your yield status regardless of what path combination you take.
      - Race Lines have been adjusted on some Rallycross configurations to improve accuracy.
      - Excessive post-race penalty time is now converted to post-race lap penalties.

      Lone Qualifying
      - Fixed an issue where ghost effects and skids were showing up from other cars during these sessions.

      Driver Swap
      - iRating exchanges are now possible in scheduled driver-swap races. The Info tab on the Session screen will indicate whether or not iRating will be impacted by this particular team racing event. iRating exchanges in driver swap races are being enabled as of the deployment of 2018 Season 2 during the 13th week.

      Hybrid Engines
      - Hybrid system can no longer be deployed while pit speed limiter is active.

      Controls
      - The Sim should now make better estimates for controller calibration when initially starting up the Simulation.
      - Joystick calibration routine has been adjusted to reduce the likelihood of a noisy joystick axis getting detected.
      - Improved the ability to map a multiple button press trigger to a single control response.
      - - For Example: Button A = Action 1 -and- Button A + Button B = Action 2
      - Support for mapping actions to buttons that are permanently held down (for example a position switch that simulates pressing and holding a button), has been added.
      - - When mapping button controls, iRacing would normally watch for the "button release" event before mapping that input to the action. But in this case a user can hit "Enter" when mapping the control to accept the held-button (or switch position) in its current location.

      Feedback
      - Markers have been added to the driving control interface elements to indicate if you are dragging your brake or clutch. Markers will light up if there is any input at all on a control.

      Spotter
      - A new switch has been added to the [SPCC] section of the "app.ini" file, called "carLowHiAtStart"
      - - carLowHiAtStart=0 = Spotter "Car Low / High" calls are disabled for a short duration after the green. (Default functionality)
      - - carLowHiAtStart=1 = Spotter "Car Low / High" calls are enabled as soon as you get the green.

      Driver Animation
      - Hand-over-hand steering animations have now been completed for all cars!
      - - We have fully implemented driver hand animations for all iRacing vehicles.

      Animated Pit Crew
      - The pit crew members' running routes have been adjusted slightly to minimize clipping through larger vehicles.
      - The pit crew members with a war wagon should now appear correctly on loaded replays.
      - Fixed an issue where the animated pit stop was not appearing correctly with team swaps.
      - Fixed an issue where the level-of-detail distances for some pit crew members was causing them to lose their heads.
      - Fixed an issue where the pit stop could break when driving in backwards.

      Opponent Cars
      - All opponent-controlled vehicles will now have their actual gear and RPMs displayed in their cockpits.

      Crowds
      - A new system has been created and implemented for crowds at all tracks!
      - - The folks in the stands should now appear more realistic than before.
      - - This system will function as follows depending on your Crowd Detail setting:
      - - - OFF = No crowds
      - - - LOW = The crowds display with front-faces only
      - - - MEDIUM = The crowds are in full attendance
      - - - HIGH = Additional 3D characters are added around the track

      Rendering
      - Fixed an issue where some tires were showing up as white-wall or chrome-wall.

      Replay
      - Performance improvements have been made to the mechanism used to prepare the replay world for playback.
      - - This change will be most noticeable when skipping around in a replay, getting out of the car in the Sim, and playing through a session change within a replay. The effect on the Skew (S) bar during these operations should now be greatly diminished.

      Video Capture
      - The video capture API has been updated.
      - The file format, ".MP4" is now the default file format for the video capture system.

      Telemetry
      - The old telemetry session string will now clear when launching a new session via the iRacing Beta Interface.

Deployment is completely cut when the car speed exceeds a fixed percent of the expected maximum speed on the current straightaway (end-of-straight or EOS speeds).
      - - There are two user modes: Automatic and Manual Trim.
      - - - In Automatic mode, the system calculates and applies an offset to the % EOS speed cut parameter that attempts to balance harvested and deployed electrical energy. Per the description, this mode requires no intervention from the driver - you simply get in and drive.
      - - - In Manual mode, the user specifies a Trim via the MFH knob (1 to 14), in 2% increments from -12% to +14%. Setting 7 applies a 0% trim. -ve offsets cut deployment at lower speeds, resulting in net energy savings while +ve offsets result in deployment cuts at higher speeds, draining the battery. Note that the base %EOS speed cut parameter and expected EOS speeds are generated using ref-line calculations that have been modified to handle hybrid power units (ref-line calcs are used for the driving line display and race control functions like applying track-cutting time penalties in real-time).
      - MGU-K power is now shown on the digital display.
      - A Qualifying mode has been added for MGU-K deployment.
      - Dynamic brake biasing and handling of MGU-K harvesting has been updated.
      - - The car is now much more stable at brake release, even with very aggressive re-gen setting.
      - The cure-based degradation and wear-based degradation of the tires has been increased.
      - - Please evaluate this change over the 7-10 days after release, and please provide us with feedback. If necessary, we will adjust this again before the start of the F1 WCS.

      Mercedes-AMG GT3
      - 2018 Season 2 BoP adjustments: -15 kg minimum weight, reduced drag sensitivity for rear wing adjustments at greater than 4 degrees (so higher angles generate less drag), slightly reduced overall aero drag.

      CHANGE LOG:

      New Download Option

      - We have setup a new Content Delivery Network (CDN) option for users to use when downloading updates. For this build we have randomly assigned 10% of users (per country) who have logged in over the last month to use the new CDN.
      - - If you would like to test this out, you can manually opt-in by selecting this option in the "My Account" section of the Membersite with the following steps:
      - - - Log in to the Membersite.
      - - - Select "My Account" from the Account menu.
      - - - Choose CloudFront in the drop down next to Choose A Content Delivery Network in the Preferences section.
      - - - Click Save.

      - If you encounter any issues while updating, and restarting the Updater does not resolve the issue, you can switch back to what you are presently using by following the steps above and selecting "Default", "International", or "North America".
      - - Currently, all three options point to the same provider.

      - Please report any issues encountered, particularly speed related, in the following thread:
      - - http://members.iracing.com/jforum/po...t/3606870.page

      iRacing BETA Interface

      - GENERAL:
      - - Improved consistency of listing cars for sessions so that all events will display vehicle lists the same way.
      - - Stability enhancements have been made to the Paint Kit pages.
      - - Fixed some bugs where registering for a Session could inadvertently put you in the wrong car class.
      - - Fixed an issue where the Nürburgring Combined track was not showing up in some content lists.

      - MY PROFILE:
      - -Spotter settings can now be managed though the "Profile & Licenses" upper-left section of the iRacing BETA Interface.

      - HOSTED:
      - - You may now create Hosted Sessions using pre-defined car classes! Use the "Enable Car Classes" option when creating a Hosted Session.
      - - When creating a Hosted Session, some user-friendly reminders will now be displayed if your account funds are a bit low.
      - - You may no longer schedule a Hosted Session in the future if you do not have the funds for it at time of scheduling.
      - - Stability enhancements have been made to the Host a Race process.
      - - Fixed an issue where metric and imperial weights were not being displayed correctly when toggled in Hosted Races.

      - TIME ATTACK:
      - - Enhanced the Time Attack Results content to make finding your specific position easier, relative to others.
      - - Performance enhancements have been made to the Time Attack section of the interface.

      - OTHER:
      - - Terms and Conditions of using the site can now be viewed in the "Help" section of the main sidebar menu.
      - - Fixed some issues with word pluralization.

      Membership

      - When signing up for a new membership, users should no longer be prompted for their phone number or birthday.

      Connection Quality

      - The communications meters section of the Frame Rate display (the L/Q/S meters) include the Skew in simulation-time between the simulation and the race server (by default, you press the F key to toggle this display on/off while on the Replay screen, or while in the car). While it is not unusual for the S meter to flicker a little, when it becomes large, and particularly when it grows then resets repeatedly, this is a bad condition. All the other cars on track will disappear for you, and your car will disappear for everyone else.
      - - This particular behavior is almost always because your computer is not able to keep up with all the calculations required to stay in sync with the race server. There is an additional meter that can be added to that display that would help identify this condition - the CPU meter (labeled C). You can cause this C meter (along with two graphics-related meters labeled R and G) to be displayed by editing your My Documents\iRacing\app.ini file, and changing the "CPUMeter=0" setting to the value 1.
      - - To help identify this situation, without needing to hand-edit a configuration file, the simulation will now automatically show the CPU meter when this condition arises, and also blink the C (CPU) and S (Skew) labels for the meters. A few seconds after the condition clears, the C and S labels will stop blinking, and if the CPU meter was automatically added to the display, it will be removed.
      - - If this condition is indicated to you, the simplest way to reduce the amount of work the simulation needs to do is to go to the in-sim Option/Graphics page, and in the left column reduce the "Max Cars" setting. By how much will depend on your computer. The minimum allowed value is 10. This setting tells the race server the maximum number of opponent cars for which it should send you their position information. By sending your computer the position information for a smaller number of cars, the simulation will not have to move them around, store them into the replay, generate sounds for them, etc., thus reducing the load. Contact support@iracing.com via email for additional suggestions to help reduce the simulation's computational load on your computer.

      Race Control

      - Measurements are now better defined to support pit exit penalty checks.
      - - Pit exit policy is that a car must keep all tires inside of the apron's painted line to avoid getting pit exit penalties.

      Dynamic Track

      - The reported track temperature will now be dynamically updated throughout a session.

      Driving Aids

      - A new driving aid has been added: Pit Exit Line.
      - - This driving aid is enabled by default, and appears similar to Driving Line. The aid will show the line to drive to exit a pit lane if that pit lane has a specific exit that must be followed in order to avoid an unsafe merge black flag. The line for Pit Exit Line appears on the track in blue, and it only appears when you are in a pit lane, or exiting a pit lane. It will disappear once you've cleared the merge point.
      - - Pit Exit Line will only appear for Oval track configurations. This feature will be added for road courses next season.

      Custom Heat Racing

      - Custom Heat formats are now available in the “Create A Race” screen though the iRacing BETA Interface.
      - - This feature allows you to control and manage every session of the event, including Practice, Qualifying, Heats, Consolations, and of course, the Feature Race!
      - - You can now create a custom heat configuration either from scratch, or by using an existing iRacing configuration as a base format.
      - - A visual breakdown of the sessions and how they progress is displayed for the user to easily see total entrants in each session as well as the number of entrants advancing to the Feature Race.
      - - Formats can also be previewed on the “Set Race Options” screen by hitting “Preview Format” Custom formats will be saved to the user’s account and will be available for use in Hosted Sessions the user creates.

      - There are currently a few known issues (that we are working on fixing presently) with this brand new feature that we would like to make everyone aware of:
      - - Currently, the Track Usage state only carries over between each Session if you select to use Auto-Generate the track state, AND include a Warm-Up Session. Without these two aspects selected, the Track Usage state will reset at the start of each Session type.
      - - When creating a Custom Heat Race, you must enter a Description in order to save the Custom Heat Race.
      - - Please let us know what you think of this brand new feature, and if some aspect could be improved.

      Time Attack & Time Trial

      - For Time Attack or Time Trial events, the car will now start much closer to the end of a lap, to make for a much quicker start to the first timed lap. This is only if the track configuration makes sense for this to happen.

      Dirt

      - When dirt is thrown, some water loss will now occur as it flies through the air, making the dirt drier where it lands.

      - Water will now evaporate a bit quicker from a surface covered in loose dirt.

      Visual Effects

      - Adjustments have been made to skid parameters to make them more accurate based on the surface type, and the parameters of the surface type, such as wetness.

      - Updated grass particle effects for skids.

      - A new off-track grass particle effect has been added.

      - Updated the appearance of smoke puffs.

      Tire Marks

      - Tire-specific tire marks will now be created by tires on soft surfaces, instead of all tires generating an identical tire mark. This includes details like tread pattern and tire width.
      - - Tire marks will adjust their appearance based on surface factors, such as the water content, material of the surface, and time of day.

      Bloom

      - Bloom is now available as a graphics option for iRacing!
      - - Bloom is a feathered lighting effect that can be seen around the edges of bright lights to make them appear more realistic in the simulation.
      - - Bloom may be enabled and disabled via a Graphics Option switch.
      - - When enabled, you will see bloom effects for all light sources, including vehicle headlights, taillights, track caution lights, and track lighting.

      Shadows

      - Track walls and track-side objects (TSOs) can now self-shadow, and cast shadows on other walls and TSOs.
      - - This new setting, "AllowTSOSelfShadows" has been added to the [Graphics Options] section of the "rendererDX11.ini" file, which may be used to enable or disable the new self-shadowing of some TSOs when shadow mapping is also properly enabled. By default it is enabled automatically after the first launch of the SIM if the shader level is set to "High" and the video memory slider is set to "1500MB" or greater, but this may be edited manually. When enabled, this setting will cause the Simulator to use a little extra video memory and may reduce the frame rate slightly in some spots.

      Trees

      - Many trees throughout the landscape of iRacing will now sway in the wind.
      - - The amount and direction of this movement is driven by the wind speed and direction.

      - Tree sway will be disabled when using "Medium" shader quality or lower.

      Audio

      - Fixed an issue that could cause vehicle scrape sounds to transfer from one car to another.

      Pit Crew

      - The pit crew will no longer be visible for non-driver teammates.

      Paint Kit

      - Two new sponsors have been added to the Paint Kit.

      Telemetry

      - A pair of new settings have been added to the "app.ini" file under the [Misc] section that provide the ability to permanently turn telemetry off while in the Simulation.
      - - irsdkEnableMem=0 This disables memory-based telemetry, and will disable the Logitech ARX telemetry tool.
      - - irsdkEnableDisk=0 This disables disk-based telemetry.

      - New variables have been added to Telemetry, including:
      - - ManualBoost - Hybrid manual boost state.
      - - ManualNoBoost - Hybrid manual no boost state.
      - - PlayerCarTowTime - Players car is being towed if time is greater than zero.
      - - - This variable has replaced "PlayerCarIsTowing" from a previous change.
      - - dcMGUKDeployOptSpeed - In car MGU-K optimized deployment speed adjustment.
      - - dcFuelCutPosition - In car adv end straight fuel cut.
      - - dcHeadlightFlash - In car headlight flash control active.

      - A new variable, "PlayerCarIsTowing" has been added to the iRacing API. This variable indicates true if your car is currently being towed.

      Peripherals

      - The latest Fanatec API has been added to support wheel displays.

      - ForceFeedback effects will now stop resetting at Sim startup to work around incompatibility with Vive Pro devices. If you have a DD wheel and start having issues with a crash in pid.dll then try re-enabling this option in the "app.ini" file under the [Force Feedback] category: forceResetBeforeStartup=1

      Easy AntiCheat

      - An updated version of the EasyAntiCheat SDK has been incorporated.

      CHANGE LOG:

      UPDATES:

      Rendering

      - Fixed an issue where a noticeable stutter could appear when getting in/out of a vehicle, especially at a large track.

      Dynamic Sky

      - Slightly boosted the minimum lightness of the sky and clouds.

      - The sky is no longer forced the redraw when switching cameras while using Low Sky Detail. This should help to alleviate a large stutter. Also, the threshold for the distance between the switching cameras where a redraw is required has been increased when using High Sky Detail, to help avoid it triggering unnecessarily.

      Time Trial

      - Fixed an issue that was causing all Time Trial Sessions to have moving sun and clouds.

      Paint Kit

      - A new sponsor, Fury, has been added to the paint kit!

      Controls

      - Knob calibration has been improved to make position detection more reliable.

      - Fixed a corruption issue in the "controls.cfg" file that could cause some controls to fail to map to the correct control type.

      - Fixed a calibration issue with Fanatec wheel rotary knobs being off by a value of one.

      - Fixed an issue where Auto-Ignition would be turned on if Auto-Start was enabled and a user selected to turn off Manual Ignition.

      Telemetry

      - "Date:" will now be output next to "TimeOfDay:" in the session string.

      - Fixed an issue where the weekend start time was not being output correctly to telemetry via the "WeekendInfo:WeekendOptions:TimeOfDay:" session string entry.

      - Older "TrackTemp" telemetry reading has been deprecated in favor of "TrackTempCrew".
      - - For now, "TrackTemp" is set to, "TrackTempCrew" for backwards compatibility.

      CARS:

      Dallara F3

      - Corrected a significant problem in the aero calculations, particularly as you adjust aero packages and wing settings in the Garage. Adjustments will now be directionally correct (reducing wing angles will reduce both downforce and drag), and should be more in-line with real-world performance.

      - Updated the damage model to prevent the aero balance from moving too far when damaged.

      - Removed the option of fitting front torsion bars with 0 diameter.

      - Currently, there is a known issue where the tire warmers are not working for this vehicle during Race Sessions. We are still investigating, and do not currently have a timeline for a fix.
      - - Please note that the car was only intended to have tire warmers during Race Sessions, so it does not have tire warmers at all.

      Dallara IR18

      - The tread pattern on the tires used by this vehicle should now appear more worn.

      Ferrari 488 GT3

      - Rev limiter and pit limiter audio has been improved.

      Ferrari 488 GTE

      - Rev limiter and pit limiter audio has been improved.

      Formula Renault 3.5

      - Car collision durability has been increased, and the collision spheres for the sidepods have been raised slightly.

      - Aero limits, heights, and DRS status have been added for telemetry.

      The Chili Bowl

      - NEW TRACK!
      - - The Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals, a brand new indoor dirt oval track, is now available for purchase in the iRacing Store!
      - - Located at the Tulsa Expo Center in Oklahoma, racers from around the country across multiple disciplines come together to bear witness to what has been dubbed the 'Super Bowl of Midget Racing'. The Chili Bowl Midget Nationals is a prestigious dirt racing event that has seen the likes of Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Rico Abreu, and the Swindell family fill the grids. The inaugural Chili Bowl was organized by Lanny Edwards and partner Emmett Hahn. It was named after a local company who sponsored the first event. The race has been hosted at the Tulsa Expo Center since it was founded in 1987. The inaugural 1987 event consisted of 52 midgets competing in the 2-day event. The event now consists of four days of qualifiers for the Saturday night A-main event. The Chili Bowl's key ingredient is the clay which once covered the adjacent fairgrounds. Without sun or wind to harm it, the indoor garden (roughly a quarter-mile circle) is heavily saturated so that the boldest dirt track artists of our time can truly shine. It accommodates over two hundred race rigs, bleachers for thousands of people, and an ever-growing trade show. To stroll the aisles of Tulsa's QuikTrip Center, the home of The Golden Driller, is to rub shoulders with champions from across America.
